The North Cascades Scenic Highway (SR-20) is Washington’s official route for the Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge. This 121-mile ride stretches from Sedro-Woolley to Washington Pass, taking riders through the heart of the North Cascades with towering mountain peaks, crystal-clear alpine lakes, evergreen forests, and breathtaking scenery. Highlights include Diablo Lake, Ross Lake, and Washington Pass, making this one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier motorcycle rides.

Stop at the North Cascades National Park sign for your official Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge checkpoint photo before continuing your ride. No entrance fee is required for this checkpoint.

Travel Tips
- Stop at the North Cascades National Park sign at Washington Pass for your official Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge checkpoint photo.
- No entrance fee is required for this checkpoint.
- The North Cascades Highway is seasonal and typically opens in late spring after winter snow removal. Check road conditions before your trip.
- Fuel is limited along the route. Fill up in Sedro-Woolley, Marblemount, or Winthrop before riding.
- Mountain weather can change quickly. Bring a warm layer and rain gear, even during the summer.
- Watch for wildlife, including deer, black bears, and mountain goats, especially during the early morning and evening hours.
- Allow extra time to enjoy the spectacular overlooks at Diablo Lake, Ross Lake, and Washington Pass. Cell service is limited through much of the North Cascades, so download maps before beginning your ride.
