Laurel Highlands Scenic Byway

The Laurel Highlands Scenic Byway is Pennsylvania’s official route for the Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge. Stretching 69 miles through the scenic Allegheny Mountains, this beautiful ride follows PA Route 711 from the West Virginia state line to Seward. Riders enjoy winding mountain roads, rolling farmland, dense forests, historic small towns, and breathtaking overlooks while traveling through one of Pennsylvania’s premier motorcycle destinations.
The official Harley-Davidson checkpoint is Ohiopyle State Park, located at the park headquarters in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania. Be sure to stop for your checkpoint photo at the Ohiopyle State Park sign before continuing your ride. Ohiopyle sits approximately halfway along the Laurel Highlands Scenic Byway and is known for its waterfalls, hiking trails, and the scenic Youghiogheny River.

- Ride during the fall for spectacular autumn foliage throughout the Laurel Highlands. Take time to walk to Ohiopyle Falls and enjoy the scenic overlooks.
- Watch for cyclists, hikers, and local traffic, especially around Ohiopyle State Park.
- Fuel, restaurants, and lodging are available in nearby Connellsville, Ligonier, and Somerset.
- Expect cooler temperatures in the higher elevations and carry a light jacket, even during the summer months.
