Talimena Scenic Byway

The Talimena Scenic Byway is Oklahoma’s official route for the Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge. Stretching 60 miles from Talimena, Oklahoma, to Mena, Arkansas, this spectacular mountain highway winds through the Ouachita National Forest along the crest of Winding Stair Mountain. Riders enjoy sweeping curves, scenic overlooks, dense forests, and panoramic views that make it one of the premier motorcycle roads in the South.
The official Harley-Davidson checkpoint is the Talimena Scenic Drive / Ouachita National Forest sign, located near the Oklahoma-Arkansas state line. The sign may be on either side of the state line, and either version of the sign is accepted for your official Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge checkpoint photo.

Travel Tips
- Stop at the Talimena Scenic Drive / Ouachita National Forest sign for your official Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge checkpoint photo.
- Ride in the fall for some of the best autumn colors in the southern United States.
- There are limited fuel and food options along the byway—fill up in Talihina or Mena before beginning your ride.
- Watch for deer, wild turkey, and other wildlife, especially during the early morning and evening hours.
- Take advantage of the many scenic overlooks for incredible views of the Ouachita Mountains.
- Weather can change quickly at higher elevations, so carry an extra layer and check the forecast before riding.
