The Going-to-the-Sun Road is Montana’s official route for the Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge. Crossing the heart of Glacier National Park, this legendary ride climbs through towering mountain peaks, alpine meadows, glacial valleys, waterfalls, and breathtaking overlooks. Considered one of America’s greatest scenic roads, it offers an unforgettable motorcycle experience.
The official Harley-Davidson checkpoint is the Logan Pass sign at the summit of Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park, Montana. Be sure to stop for your checkpoint photo while enjoying spectacular panoramic views from the Continental Divide.

Travel Tips
- Vehicle reservations may be required during peak season—check Glacier National Park requirements before your trip.
- Stop at the Logan Pass sign for your official Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge checkpoint photo.
- The road is typically open seasonally (generally late June through early October), depending on snow removal and weather.
- Expect rapidly changing mountain weather and significantly cooler temperatures at higher elevations.
- Watch for mountain goats, bighorn sheep, bears, and other wildlife throughout the park.
- Fuel is available outside the park in West Glacier, St. Mary, and nearby communities, but none is available along Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- Ride cautiously on the narrow mountain roads, steep drop-offs, and tight curves, and enjoy the many scenic pullouts safely.
