Lookout Mountain Parkway

The Lookout Mountain Parkway is Alabama’s official route for the Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge. Winding through the scenic Appalachian foothills of northeast Alabama, this ride features mountain overlooks, forested backroads, waterfalls, and charming small towns, making it one of the state’s premier motorcycle destinations.

The official Harley-Davidson checkpoint is the Fort Payne Cabin Historic Site, located at the intersection of Gault Avenue South and 4th Street South in Fort Payne, Alabama. Be sure to stop for your checkpoint photo before exploring the area’s rich history and continuing your ride along the beautiful Lookout Mountain Parkway.

Travel Tips

Ride early to enjoy cooler temperatures and lighter traffic through the mountain communities.
Watch for tight curves, changing elevations, and wildlife, especially at dawn and dusk. Stop at the Fort Payne Cabin Historic Site for your official Harley-Davidson 50 Rides Challenge checkpoint photo.
Visit Little River Canyon National Preserve and DeSoto State Park for some of Alabama’s best scenic overlooks and waterfalls.
Fuel and restaurants are available in Fort Payne, Mentone, and nearby towns, but it’s a good idea to top off before exploring the parkway.
Spring and fall offer the best riding conditions, with colorful wildflowers in spring and spectacular fall foliage.
